Brede Hangeland has turned down a new contract offer from Fulham.
The People says that decision leaves the door open for Arsenal to snap up the Norwegian defender.
Craven Cottage chiefs are privately resigned to losing Hangeland in the summer but will hold out for a fee of around £10 million.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have all expressed an interest in the 6ft 4in centre-back, who has been one of the Premier League's outstanding players this term.
Hangeland will be 28 in the summer and knows he may not receive many more chances to play in the Champions League.
