Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on Ibrahim Afellay's situation at Schalke.

The Barcelona winger has been on-loan at the German club, but his loan is effectively over after breaking down with injury.

Schalke chief Horst Heldt said: "I assume he'll now leave.

"It's unfortunate he could not show his best with us."

Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham have been long-term suitors of Afellay since his time at PSV Eindhoven.
