Arsenal legend Wright urges Defoe, Bent to quit Spurs

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has told Jermain Defoe and Darren Bent to quit Tottenham for the sake of their careers.

In his column for The Sun, Wright penned: "I've never made any secret of how much I rate Jermain Defoe and he played his situation with Ramos the right way.

"After being told he could leave, Jermain insisted he loved Spurs and was desperate to remain at the club - and on Saturday he was handed the captaincy.

"However, while Robbo (Paul Robinson) was dropped after making some mistakes, Jermain has still not been given many chances despite the fact he is still scoring.

"That's why I still think, long-term, he should look to leave the club so he can play every week.

"The same goes for Darren Bent, who has not been given a proper chance. Both players must now have one eye on the 2010 World Cup and at the moment, strikers such as Carlton Cole and Dean Ashton - who are playing every week - are ahead of them.

"This situation will be eating away at Darren's confidence. He turned down more money at West Ham and I am sure given a proper chance, he will score goals."
