Arsenal legend Wright slams Guardiola over Muller handling

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has hit out at Pep Guardiola over the manner of his move from Bayern Munich to Manchester City.

The 45-year-old is to leave the German side in the summer and suffered a 1-0 loss on Wednesday night, when Bayern were beaten by Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

Thomas Muller has 31 goals this season but was dropped to the substitutes' bench for the defeat, and former Arsenal striker Wright believes his manager's move to Manchester has not helped.

"I made a joke at the start to Owen (Hargreaves)," Wright said on BT Sport. "I said he's left him out because there's no comeback to him.

"What's he going to say? 'Why did you leave Muller out?' 'Because I am the manager and I wanted to leave him out.'

"The fact is Muller is one of their best players, he's leaving next season, why should he care what happens? If he leaves Muller out now, it makes no difference to him.

"It's terrible. It's terrible the way the whole situation has turned itself around with where it's gone with him."
