Arsenal legend Wright: No-one wants Aston Villa job

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has questioned the attractiveness of the Aston Villa job.

Wright believes any potential candidates for the Villa hotseat will not be impressed by the thought of inheriting a squad minus its star players.

He told The Sun: "Is it an attractive proposition to become Villa's new boss? No.

"It's hard enough as it is because managers don't normally get much of an opportunity. If they're failing to get results, it's instantly a case of panic, panic, panic.

"So why would you want to go to Villa when those players aren't going to be there?

"They're players who are going to keep Villa challenging for honours and keep them where they've become used to.

"They've helped the club gain momentum and could even help attract other players to go there.

"It's a massive club and the expectations are high. A top-six place is expected and you could argue they were beginning to knock on the door of the top four.

"But now I feel sorry for the fans because it's the worst, worst scenario that could ever happen to a football club at this stage of the season."
