Arsenal legend Wright: Moyes appointment great for Man Utd and British football

Arsenal legend Ian Wright is delighted for Everton boss David Moyes over his move to Manchester United.

Wright says Moyes is the ideal replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson.

He told Absolute Radio: "I’m delighted for David Moyes, I’m delighted that Man United has pin-pointed a British manager and he has been linked with Manchester United for many years. He got a glowing tribute from Alex Fergusson to the board, he was the unanimous winner in respect of the candidates and, you know what, I’m just pleased for him.

"We are hearing lots of people saying I’m a Man United fan and it is just almost like, it makes you laugh listening to them, they say he hasn’t won anything his record is this, he is going to Manchester United off the back of a recommendation from Alex Fergusson for crying out loud. We are talking about somebody who is literally going to step into the slipstream of Sir Alex and it is not going to change much, like Alex said he is a man of integrity and hard work.

"What more do you need at a club that is what he should be judged on, you know people are jumping on saying he hasn’t won anything, he hasn’t done this, he hasn’t beaten anyone in the top 4 at Everton. So what? You know what I mean, he hasn’t got any experience in Europe.

"Sir Alex Fergusson is going to be with him in his first year and however long, Alex Fergusson is going to be around the place just like Bobby Charlton is around the place. You know, it really does surprise me that people say stuff like that and to cap it all off Man United have given him a 6 year deal, they know what they have got and they know who they have got and they have made it known, bang that is it."
