Arsenal legend Wright: Man Utd striker Rooney rattled by off-field scandal

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Wayne Rooney's poor form for Manchester United has nothing to do with fitness.

Wright is convinced it is the off-field scandals that are weighing down the United striker.

He told Absolute Radio: "I do think, I honestly do. I think what's happened to him, unfortunately, its literally knocked him for six, because he's just in this world where he's thinking 'Most probably I can get away with anything', and literally its all come down on him, and everybody who loved him, because he was the golden child is starting to think twice.

"I remember him when he made his debut at 17 and watching him, thinking 'My God', he was the golden child. It's all caved in on him. We all love somebody to come back from the ashes, but honestly, he's got a lot of work to do, because he just seems like he's not even playing the same."
