Arsenal legend Wright: I was wrong to dismiss Wenger title plans

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has apologised to Arsene Wenger for writing off his team's title chances too soon.

In his column for The Sun, Wright wrote: "I did not think Wenger had a squad large enough or strong enough to challenge for the crown this season.

"And I thought I was proved right by successive and, it has to be said, comprehensive defeats this year at home to Manchester United and then away at Chelsea.

"That is why, with a heavy heart, I was among the legions who wrote off their league chances before Valentine's Day.

"The gap between Arsenal and their two title rivals appeared far too wide to bridge - not only in terms of points, but class as well.

"Yet it seems I may have jumped the gun.

"Easter is still not upon us, but incredibly the Gunners have managed to rise again.

"A mere four games after their title dream was supposedly dashed by a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, they are well and truly back in the hunt.

"And English football may have to face the prospect of the Premier League trophy going to a club who have failed to take a single point off either Chelsea or United this term.

"If that would not qualify as a footballing miracle, it would surely be a first. And it is certainly not unrealistic."
