Arsenal legend Wright doubts Villas-Boas can handle Chelsea egos

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has questioned whether Andre Villas-Boas has the presence to handle the Chelsea locker room.

Wright wrote in his column for The Sun: "Andre Villas-Boas is going to stand any chance at Chelsea, he has to win the respect of the dressing room from day one.

"Because if his methods are questioned by the senior pros at Stamford Bridge, it could all go very wrong, very quickly.

"For a club of Chelsea's stature and expectations to appoint a 33-year-old manager with next to no experience is an astonishing gamble.

"I can only wish Villas-Boas the very best of luck when he arrives from Porto.

"He is going to need it.

"Carlo Ancelotti won the Double and was sacked a year later.

"So Villas-Boas starts his new job knowing he could be out of work if he does not deliver the Champions League straight away.

"That is a ridiculous amount of pressure to heap on a manager, who is the same age as some of the players he will be coaching next season."
