Arsenal legend Parlour nominates ex-teammate Vieira to replace Wenger

Arsenal legend Ray Parlous has backed former teammate Patrick Vieira to replace Arsene Wenger as manager.

Speculation surrounding Wenger's future has gone into overdrive since Sunday's Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City.

The Gunners are also likely to miss out on the top-four this season and they face a tricky Europa League last-16 tie against AC Milan.

And if Wenger is to leave the club, Parlour has backed New York City FC boss Vieira to succeed his former manager.

"The one I would take a gamble on - and I know he would get time as well - is Patrick Vieira," Parlour told Sky Sports' The Debate.

"He has managed in New York, he knows the club very well and he knows the history of the club and where the club want to go.

"I think he can attract big players and I think he'll get a chance

"I think the fans will give him chance as well. If I was picking someone it would be Vieira."
