Arsenal legend Martin Keown believes that Gunners star Mesut Ozil has to meet his coach halfway.

It appears that Ozil has fallen out of favor with Spaniard Unai Emery, who does not believe that Ozil has the work rate to play in his system.

The result is that Arsenal's top earner is often not in the matchday squad, despite being fit to play. And Keown suggests some of the problem lies with the player.

The former defender said on talkSPORT: "I think Unai Emery is trying to work with Ozil.

"People are now saying they want more creativity, but first of all he has to work and be prepared to work to the ethic the manager has.

"And I just don't think Ozil wants to do that at the moment."
