Arsenal legend Martin Keown believes Jose Mourinho wants to sign Mesut Ozil for two reasons - because he rates him as a player and just to spite Arsene Wenger.

The pair have endured a long-standing rivalry since Mourinho joined Chelsea in 2004.

Ozil, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been linked with a reunion with his former Real Madrid manager, and Keown believes Mourinho is equally as interested in the German.

"I think Jose Mourinho would love for that move to happen, for two reasons," Keown told the Daily Mail.

"That rivalry between the two managers has not gone away."
