Arsenal legend Brady blasts Wenger critics: One year's blip not sackable offence!

Arsenal legend Liam Brady has blasted Arsene Wenger's critics after their FA Cup triumph.

The Irishman, 61, who lit up Highbury during a glittering career with the club from 1973 to 1980, returned to the Gunners in 1996 and was director of the Arsenal Youth Academy until 2014, working in tandem with Wenger.

So it's no surprise he supports the under-fire Frenchman.

Brady said: “Did you hear what Sir Alex had to say about Arsene? How he has kept his dignity amid the criticism, how he has shown outstanding qualities handling the whole situation. The key thing for me was when Alex talked about long-termism and stability. I totally agree with that.

“Arsene has done a tremendous job over such a long period of time. He has worked tirelessly and smartly for the club.

“Arsene has kept Arsenal competitive. This is their third FA Cup Final in four years.

“They were in the Champions League for 20 consecutive years and I don't agree that missing out on it for one year merits criticism. The number of points they got this season exceeded what they got last year. But last year they finished second."
