Arsenal legend Tony Adams has resigned as coach of FC Gabala in Azerbaijan.

Adams is expected to be replaced by assistant Gary Stevens, the former Tottenham fullback.

"I came to Gabala with big ambitions, wanting to build a strong club and share experience," said Adams. "It has been an interesting time and hoped that I could achieve something here.

"However, due to family problems, I have to leave the club. It is hard to leave the management and players, but family is more important to me."
