Arsenal legend Adams: I almost signed with West Ham

Portsmouth boss Tony Adams admits he could've joined West Ham ahead of former club Arsenal.

The ex-Gunners captain revealed: "When I was about to sign schoolboy terms, I looked at a few clubs.

"I looked at Orient and Fulham, but I spoke to Ronnie Gow at West Ham and went to a couple of their games.

"My family comes out of the east end. My dad was a big Hammers fan and used to sing Bubbles all the time, so I care about the club.

"But they had great coaches at Arsenal and even my dad told me I should learn my trade there.

"Everything was so professional at Arsenal.

"The environment was fantastic and that was my decision. But I'm glad I did it."
