Arsenal have rejected the chance to sign free agent Mineiro.

The Mirror says Mineiro, 33, is a free agent after being released by Hertha Berlin.

He spent last week on trial with the Gunners and played in a behind-closed-doors friendly win over Fulham.

But Mineiro, capped 25 times by Brazil, was not at the Arsenal training ground yesterday and it is believed Arsene Wenger does not feel he is still Premier League quality.

However, Chelsea remain in the hunt to sign Mineiro, who is still available on a free, despite the closure of the transfer window.
