Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants to buy West Ham United captain Matthew Upson.
The Mirror says the England defender is out of contract at the end of the season and West Ham must decide whether to cash in now or lose him on a Bosman-style free transfer in the summer.
Wenger signed Upson from Luton in 1997 before eventually selling him to Birmingham in 2003 and has already spoken about the need for a ready-made signing.
The England international fits the bill and would take no time to settle in at Arsenal.
