Arsenal to launch bid for Birmingham keeper Jack Butland

Arsenal are eyeing Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland.

The Daily Star says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger sent chief scout Steve Rowley and goalkeeping coach Gerry Peyton to check out the £1m-rated teenager in Stuart Pearce's side's 5-0 win over Iceland last week.

Butland, who is on loan at Cheltenham, has been on Wenger's radar for a while.

Manchester City and Sunderland are also eyeing the 6ft 4in 18-year-old, who is tipped to become England's future No.1.
