Arsenal kid Watt can handle big expectations

Big things are expected from 16 year-old Arsenal midfielder Sanchez Watt.

The youngster is already attracting interest from the national media, but he insists he won't let the hype go to his head.

Watt told the Arsenal Matchday Programme: "I have been with Arsenal since I was seven years old and that has helped me stay grounded. The coaches have always emphasised the importance of developing potential and the need to keep moving forward.

"It's no good just believing all the hype and standing still," argues the young Gunner, adding: "That's something my Dad, Gilbert has always emphasised. Whenever he watches me play he is very encouraging. He congratulates me for what I have achieved, but at the same time keeps me focused on improving and working hard in games and training.

"My coaches and family keep me grounded and I feel that I have a responsibility to make the most of the opportunity available to me. People would pay to be in my position," he observes. "If I keep on developing I have the chance to play professional football for one of the best clubs in the world and I need no more inspiration."
