Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has revealed Robin van Persie handed him his man-of-the-match award after victory at Liverpool.

The Dutchman won the award but then acknowledged the performance of the keeper, who pulled off a string of saves, including a double stop from Dirk Kuyt's penalty.

"Sometimes you make a lot of saves and you end up losing the game so none of your saves matter but today I managed to help my teammates," said Szczesny.

"Robin gave me the champagne at the end of the game, so it was a very good day."
