Arsenal keeper Szczesny has no fears of Barcelona trip

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny shrugged off the significance of staring down Barcelona's superstars last week.

Szczesny was on a high after Arsenal came from behind to beat Barcelona in the Champions League at the Emirates last Wednesday.

You might have thought the prospect of facing the world's biggest club and most lethal attacking unit on the planet would daunt him.

Szczesny insisted: "It didn't frighten me.

"Facing Lionel Messi is like facing any other striker. I had to make sure I was at my best.

"I wasn't afraid. Whoever you play against you have to be at your best, whether you play against Leyton Orient in the FA Cup or Barcelona in the Champions League.

"You have to treat every game the same way so I wasn't afraid at all."

Szczesny is adamant that his confident exterior is not a veneer. It's the real deal. He added: "I don't think it is something you can train or improve on.

"You don't know how you will react until it happens, so I believe I was born this way."
