Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was delighted with their cleansheet in victory over Liverpool.
Before kick-off, questions were raised about whether the Gunners could quell in-form strikers Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
"[Suarez and Sturridge] are fantastic players," said Szczesny to arsenal.com. "They are both among the best strikers in the Premier League, it's always hard to play against them but we did that with the clean-sheet. They didn't create a lot of chances so, credit to our defence, it was a very good defensive performance from us.
"We knew it was a very important game for us, we knew that winning this game would mean a lot and create a gap in the table at the top and I'm delighted with the result and the way we played. You have to say we deserved the win so I'm very happy."
