Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is determined to prove his class as he steps in for crocked No1 Manuel Almunia.
The Spaniard's injury - which is expected to sideline him for the next couple of weeks - handed Fabianski a chance to impress during the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Villarreal.
"It is always nice to play, however not in these circumstances," said Fabianski, who had been selected in the Carling Cup this season.
"I wish Manuel all the best with his help and I hope he comes back really soon."
Fabianski added: "I am maybe not ready to take over the number one spot yet - but I am ready to play.
"I respect what Manuel has done for the club. He was playing great for the last couple of months.
"Now the situation is like this and I have to play - I am ready."
