Arsenal 'Invincible' Parlour thanks Wenger for 'doing wonders' to his career

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes that he owes a lot to Arsene Wenger for the great career he enjoyed at the club.

Parlour was a part of the club's 'Invincibles' team that went undefeated in the Premier League in 2003-2004. They are still the only Premier League team to manage that feat.

Parlour spoke about Wenger's influence shortly after the news broke about his departure from the club at the end of the season.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Parlour said: "The training methods were so good. You got better technically under Arsene Wenger.

"He worked hard with you. If I wanted to do extra work after training on my weaknesses, he would say, 'I will stay with you and do it'. He wanted to make sure he saw you improving.

"He was an honest guy, a great human being. He was a great guy off the field.

"When we trained, we trained hard and we had to concentrate, but he loved a bit of humour. He wanted the players to have fun. People don't see that side of him.

"He was a real good fun character to be around during the trainings sessions and after training sessions.

"He did wonders for my career. I played eight years under him and I improved so much as a player. I can't thank him enough for that."
