Zenit St Petersburg are edging closer to re-signing Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin. The Daily Mail says the 30-year-old is fully expected to make the move back to Russia if negotiations continue to progress with former club Zenit.

The fact Arsenal still have question marks over the fitness of some of their squad may put the deal on hold until after the January window closes but the Russian one remains open.

German clubs remain interested but are not close on Arsenal's desired valuation of around £8million.
