Arsenal hero Martin Keown was impressed by Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill in action for England last night.
Keown told the Daily Mail of Cahill's performance in the 1-1 draw with Ghana: "Gary Cahill played better than partner Phil Jagielka, but he still has a bit to learn. At 25 he's three years younger but Cahill looked more mature.
"He is quick and never shies away from challenges. He played neat, simple balls without giving away possession cheaply.
"He reads the game well and has an awareness of when his opponent is sneaking offside but I'd like to see him drop off and deal with the delivery if he sees the ball coming.
"He has no problems with one-on-ones because his footwork is excellent but he needs to attack crosses and dominate the area.
"Jagielka had some sticky moments. He tried to play Asamoah Gyan offside in the first half and later opted to track a runner when he should have kept his eye on the ball to head it away."
