Arsenal hero Martin Keown was impressed by Matteo Guendouzi in defeat to Manchester City.
The highly-rated midfielder arrived from French side Lorient in the summer for £7m.
Lucas Torreira may take his place once fully fit, but Keown was impressed by him nonetheless.
“Guendouzi the 19-year-old was playing in there and I thought he was quite brave," said Keown.
“Things didn't go well for him at times but he showed a good energy.
“He showed that he really had that character and he didn't hide.
“But patience is going to be the key after 22 years of Arsene Wenger.
“They used to pass the ball out from the back, but not to the extent that they did today."
