Arsenal hero Martin Keown slammed their defenders after Thursday night's 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid.

A goal up through Alexandre Lacazette, Arsenal conceded late on in the first-leg of their Europa League semifinal.

Antoine Griezmann latched on to a long ball over the top, embarrassing France team-mate Laurent Koscielny, rounding David Ospina and poking past Shkodran Mustafi after he slipped on the goal line.

“Normally, it's about winning and losing together as a team," Keown said on BT Sport.

“But if you break down into compartments, front players, they've done nothing wrong tonight.

“At the back of the team, I would feel tonight I've let them down if I was a defender because you have to do your job properly.

“Certain building blocks are not there with the defence.

“It's one ball down the middle and everybody suffers.

“They're great lads they'll come back but they know how difficult it is now to win the second leg."
