Arsenal hero Keown: AVB deserves credit for Chelsea defensive restructure

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown says Andre Villas-Boas was spot on with Chelsea's defensive structure for their win over Valencia.

Keown wrote in the Daily Mail: "Andre Villas-Boas deserves credit for making the decision to play a much deeper defensive line but this system needs more work.

"The rest of the team - and particularly Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge - played so deep that when Chelsea did regain possession of the ball there was so little on.

"It only worked against Valencia because Didier Drogba was strong enough to hold up the ball and wait for players to get up the pitch to join him."
