Arsenal hero Groves can understand Wenger slamming World Cup talk

Arsenal hero Perry Groves played down Arsene Wenger's foul-mouthed tirade against the World Cup this week.

Wenger lost his rag over questions about Theo Walcott's World Cup chances for England this season.

But Groves told TalkSport: "Arsene was just saying 'I don't give a monkeys about England or Holland or France winning the World Cup, we pay our players to play for Arsenal' and if they think they can ease off and maybe pick their games or stop themselves from getting injured, then they are not going to be in our team so therefore they won't be in the World Cup squads.

"He's been quite good actually Arsene. Theo (Walcott) went away with the U21s which was no need for him to do that because in my opinion he's gone past that stage of the U21s, somebody else should've been playing, and he gets injured so he (Wenger) hasn't moaned about it that much."
