Tottenham signing Scott Parker could easily have been pulling on an Arsenal jersey this weekend.
The People says a deal was in place for Arsenal to sign England international Parker from West Ham United long before he agreed to join Tottenham on transfer deadline day but, despite being urged by close allies to sign off on it, Arsene Wenger steadfastly refused.
England defender Gary Cahill would also have jumped at the chance to move to London from Bolton Wanderers.
But the Gunners boss was held back by the way Arsenal's hierarchy wanted to structure payments of the transfer. They offered £6million rising to £8m, which Bolton laughed off.
