Arsenal great Wright urges Wenger to sign Henry permanently

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes Arsene Wenger should try to sign Thierry Henry on a permanent basis.

The man whose Gunners goalscoring record was broken by Henry says the New York Red Bulls ace should be brought in on a less temporary basis than the two-month loan spell which was finalised today.

"I'd like to see Thierry come back and stay at Arsenal in the same capacity as what he will be doing now," he said.

"That might be coming off the bench but I'd like to see him stay and then become an ambassador for the club or be given a coaching role so he can be there on a more consistent basis.

"I'd like to see him involved at a high-level so he can help the club attract great players because as good as it will be to see him back in an Arsenal shirt, in two months' time they will be back to where they were."
