Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has advised Tottenham striker Harry Kane to take a rest at the end of the current campaign.
Spurs sensation Kane is set for his first England start on Tuesday in a friendly with Italy, after scoring less than 80 seconds after coming on as a substitute against Lithuania on Friday.
Kane has featured 43 times for his club this season and there has been a lot of speculation over whether the forward will travel to the U21 European Championships with the Young Lions this summer but Merson feels it will benefit him to have a break.
"It's a difficult one. When you're playing well and scoring goals you just want to keep on playing," he told Sky Sports.
"But I think he could probably do with a break, if I'm being honest."
