Arsenal fullback Kieran Gibbs has welcomed competition from teammate Nacho Monreal.
He has seen off challengers for the left-back spot since Gael Clichy departed. Armand Traore has left, so too Andre Santos. And he is keeping out Monreal.
"I'm enjoying competing against him," Gibbs told the Daily Express. "He's an international for Spain, so he's not shabby. The rivalry is good for this club."
His next challenge will be to do the same with England and prove he is the natural successor to Ashley Cole, with Leighton Baines currently in the driving seat for that role.
"Ashley and Leighton are world-class players. I want more. It's not a long career so you might as well go for it."
