Arsenal fullback Chambers to make first England start against San Marino

Arsenal defender Calum Chambers is set to start for England against Euro qualifying opponents San Marino.

The Telegraph says Chambers is poised to be handed his first England senior start against San Marino after being promoted from the Under-21 squad.

Gareth Southgate, the England Under-21 coach, had picked Chambers for the European Championship play-off against Croatia, but now expects the Arsenal defender to start for Roy Hodgson, the senior manager, at Wembley on Thursday night.

Hodgson is short of right-backs, where Chambers, 19, has been covering for Arsenal in recent weeks, and lost Everton's John Stones to an ankle injury.

Chambers made his England debut as a substitute against Norway last month and is now poised to win his second international cap.
