Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas thinks that former club striker Nicklas Bendtner could have been the next Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Danish striker is currently playing his football for Norwegian side Rosenberg following disappointing spells with Wolfsburg and Nottingham Forest.

Nicholas said: "Bendtner is one of the most super-confident individuals I have come across. When he was 17 I watched him closely at Arsenal and he really was a precocious talent.

"I know this sounds preposterous now that he is playing for Rosenborg, but back then, if his career had gone the way it should have, he could have been the next Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"He was that good. He had the same character and was also a very similar player to the big Swede, but he never got to those levels and his career has since gone one way. He has never fulfilled his potential, and for me he is now a drifter.
