Arsenal can beat Real Madrid to the signing of Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Silva this month.Marca says Arsenal have been given the upper hand in the battle to sign exciting Brazilian youngster Lucas Silva.

The Spanish newspaper reports that Real Madrid have now pulled out of the race to sign the 21-year-old, who plays in defensive midfield.

Reports suggest that the Gunners are the only other club in the race for the Cruzeiro man, who is said to be valued by his club at £12million.
