Arsenal players copped pelters from Gunners fans on the way back from their shock defeat at Wigan Athletic.

The Mirror says the players felt the full wrath of supporters' disappointment on their way home from the north-west as they took the train back to London as the volcanic ash crisis meant their usual flight back was unavailable.

It is understood Arsenal fans were quick to voice their frustration at some players, especially as manager Arsene Wenger had blamed them in his post-match interview rather than himself for his own tactical blunders.
