Arsenal have been encouraged in their pursuit of Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic. The Daily Express says Mandzukic was hauled off after just 45 minutes on Wednesday night by Pep Guardiola as the Bayern boss tried to address his side's 3-0 half-time deficit to Real Madrid.
However, as Mandzukic watched on the Champions League holders went down 5-0 on aggregate and were knocked out of the competition at Real's behest.
And with the Croatian striker given a vote of no confidence by Guardiola at the crucial moment, Arsenal's chances of snaring him this summer appeared to increase.
Arsenal have turned their attention to Mandzukic after seemingly failing to entice Chelsea-bound Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid.
