Arsenal will be without goalkeeper Manuel Almunia and striker Robin van Persie for Wednesday night’s Champions League opener against Standard Liege.

Almunia will be forced to miss with a chest infection whilst van Persie is struggling with a knee injury.

The Gunners will also be without Denilson, who has a back problem, as well as Andrey Arshavin (groin) and John Djourou (knee).

Samir Nasri remains on the sidelines with a broken leg but Arsenal will be right to play Eduardo, who had a two-match ban overturned by Fifa.

The fact that second choice goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is out at the moment means Arsene Wenger will have to choose either Vito Mannone and Wojciech Szczesny to take the gloves.
