Arsenal failed to convert their dominance into goals and had to settle for a 1-1 draw against AZ Alkmaar in Holland in this Champions League clash. The Gunners looked in complete control until the final 20 minutes when an ineffective AZ suddenly got a new lease of life and grabbed a dramatic leveller deep into injury time for a scarcely deserved point.
Cesc Fabregas had put Arsenal ahead from close range while AZ keeper Sergio Romero made several good saves and kept the Dutch outfit in the game.
David Mendes da Silva then volleyed home to end a miserable night for the visitors.
