Arsenal defender Vermaelen fit to face Man Utd

Thomas Vermaelen will make Arsenal's clash with Manchester United tonight.

The tough Belgian defender successfully passed a fitness test ­yesterday and – provided there is no reaction – he will start at The Emirates, says the Sunday Mirror.

Manager Arsene Wenger will welcome back ­Vermaelen after ­successive league defeats to Fulham and Swansea.

In both matches, a lapse in defensive discipline cost Arsenal dearly and Vermaelen’s influence was sorely missed. With him, the Gunners have tenacity to go along with his organising skills.
