Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi insists the latest round of criticism coming his way is no concern.

The German has been hammered over recent games, but says he can handle it.

“I don't pay much attention to it as long as it's not necessary," the 26-year-old told Kicker. “I'm my own biggest critic. It just happens that some people prefer to talk about the negatives.

“I always have a film playing in my mind. It might be moments from previous games or imagining challenges for the ball. Whatever it is, it helps me concentrate completely on the game."

Mustafi added: “My season has been a bit like Arsenal's - peaks and troughs. Recently I've been performing [well].

“I'm thankful to play for a club like this. I want to play where I'm happy and I am happy here. Especially as I almost always start when I'm fit."
