Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has revealed he turned down Bayern Munich as a junior.

Mustafi, speaking with BILD, spoke of how he was identified at 14 by German scouts.

"I had to trial with Hamburg, Eintracht Frankfurt, Werder Bremen and even FC Bayern.

"My father asked me where I felt best. I chose HSV," said the stopper.

Asked about his Arsenal ambitions, he continued: "A cup to lift into the air is for each player the greatest. I also dream of championships and trophies. It is important, however, that my career is always going uphill. Although there are times only small steps."
