Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker is set to be handed a new deal.
Sky Sports says Arsenal are close to agreeing a one-year contract extension for captain Mertesacker.
The club has an option to extend his existing contract, which expires at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old has not played for Arsenal this season after suffering a serious knee injury in pre-season, which required surgery.
The German was Arsene Wenger's first-choice centre-back last season, making 36 appearances, and he has made over 200 in all competitions since his £8m move from Werder Bremen in 2011.
