Arsenal defender Miquel will fight for first team return

Arsenal defender Ignasi Miquel is determined to see more first team action this season.

The young Spaniard has had to stand aside as senior teammates returned from injury.

"I know that I have had my chance because of injuries, and I am really happy [to have played]," he told Arsenal.com.

"The injured players were here at the start of the season and they will be back sooner or later, so I just have to fight for [my place] and make sure I am training as well as I can.

"[Gibbs and Sagna] have been part of the team for a long team and they are great players. Obviously with all the injuries that we have had, it is bad for us but [it has allowed] some players to show they are good enough to be in the first team.

"Now these players will have even more competition around them. They are big players for us, but we also have a lot of good players in the squad."
