Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker is delighted with his current form.
It may have taken time but Mertesacker's class - something manager Arsene Wenger underlined during his difficult periods by pointing to his wealth of caps for Germany, currently standing at 93 - has come to the fore.
"I am not Mesut Ozil, to be able to adapt that quickly," he admitted. "At first I was on my own here, with no Germans in the senior Arsenal squad, so it took me maybe one season to settle in completely.
"I am delighted with my form and my performances but in football life changes so quickly, you have to be aware of every situation. We have a good and strong squad, if everybody is fit, the boss has a good selection."
