Arsenal defender Jenkinson on return - ‘It felt brilliant’

Carl Jenkinson was over the moon after featuring for Arsenal for the first time since May 2014.

The 24-year-old defender put in a full 90 minutes at right-back as the Gunners defeated Reading 2-0 in the fourth round of the EFL Cup at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

Jenkinson had spent the previous two seasons on loan at West Ham United before sustaining a damaged ACL in his knee in January, making this his first outing for the Gunners in 898 days.

“It felt brilliant, it's been a long time coming," Jenkinson told Arsenal Player.

“Of course, I've been on loan for a couple of years which was really good for me and then coming back and having nine months out injured has been very tough.

“So day and nights like tonight make it all worthwhile."
