Arsenal defender Djourou: Birmingham spell good for me

Arsenal defender Johan Djourou says he's a better player for his time on-loan at Birmingham City.

There will be no sentiment against Birmingham at Wembley, even though he has great fondness for the club where he played on loan for half a season back in 2007.

"I had a good time at Birmingham," said Djourou, who is 24. "It gave me experience and it showed me another kind of football from how we play at Arsenal.

"It was a different fight. They were trying to survive in the league. It was a good education for me.

"There is a time when you have to learn to be nastier on the field, to understand that the game is sometimes a fight and not just playing the nice way."
