Arsenal's two-goal Carling Cup hero Jay Simpson admits Ian Wright was his idol growing up.

"When I was growing up I used to watch Ian Wright, and that was what made me an Arsenal fan," he remembers.

"I had quite a few posters of him.

"I met Wrighty once. It was at Highbury, my first Arsenal game, and I met him in the tunnel. I was star-struck and didn't know what to say.

"He shook my hand, and I didn't even say 'hello' - I was about nine."
